THE NPQSL COURSE
The WAM NPQSL course includes online learning and 6 face-to-face days, which is double the number that other providers in the south east are offering. COVID Adjustments- sessions will be half days, delivered via zoom until Summer term 2021.
In addition to this, we provide a twilight focused on the writing of the assignment, so that candidates understand the quality required in the written submission.
We strongly believe that while online, self-directed learning plays a valuable part in professional development, it's essential for professionals to have as many collaborative learning opportunities as possible. Every face-to-face session will be delivered by a practising leader from the local area.
Each face to face day will focus on one of the 6 content areas:
Strategy and Improvement
Teaching & Curriculum Excellence
Leading with Impact
Working in Partnership
Managing Resources and Risks
Increasing Capability
TIME COMMITMENT
In total, 50 hours of learning will take place, per content area:
6 hours face-to-face contact with facilitators
10 hours online learning and personal research and reading
3 hours in-school coaching
2 hours structured reflection
29 hours on-the-job leadership training (work towards assessment project)
ASSESSMENT
During the course, participants will complete a project and after 12 months, submit the first part of the associated assignment.
After 13-14 months, the second part will be submitted. The project will focus on: reducing variance in pupil progress and attainment and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of teaching. It will total 5,000 words over the two parts.
