Apply to be an SLE

APPLICATION ROUND NOW OPEN UNTIL JAN 6th 2020

In order to be eligible to apply you must:

  • Have at least 2 years of leadership experience (HTs are not eligible)
  • Have experience which has impacted on school improvement
  • Have expertise in one or more of the SLE specialist areas as detailed here: SLE specialisms
  • Be employed in a Buckinghamshire primary/infant/junior or nursery school or academy
  • Have the support of your Headteacher
  • Have the capacity to be released for up to 5 days an academic year (sometimes more but only with the agreement of your HT)

We would welcome applications from qualifying candidates any of the specialisms listed in the table at the bottom of this page, but would particularly welcome applications from candidates with experience of leading in:

  • English- Wycombe and Aylesbury area candidates

  • Maths- Wycombe and Aylesbury area candidates

  • ICT/Computing- Wycombe and Aylesbury Area candidates

  • Pupil Premium- Aylesbury area candidates

  • History/Geography- Wycombe and Aylesbury candidates

  • PE- Wycombe and Aylesbury candidates
  • ITT/NQT Development- Wycombe and Aylesbury candidates

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN BEING AN SLE?

SLEs are released from their own schools, with the agreement of their headteacher, to deliver training and school-to-school support work for the alliance. Their home school is compensated £300 per day for them being out of school (usually no more than 5 days a year unless their headteacher agrees otherwise.)

SLEs carry out a wide variety of support work:

  • Demonstration lessons, team teaching and joint planning
  • Lesson observations and learning walks
  • Delivering training
  • Joint planning and delivery of training
  • Planning scrutiny
  • Coordinator support
  • Moderation
  • Subject reviews
  • Bespoke projects at the request of headteachers
