Primary English Conference February 2019

Come and join us for our first Primary English Conference in February.  The focus of the conference will be on reading, specifically looking at ways to improve inference and comprehension.

We are delighted to have Jo Payne, Deputy Head Teacher and Education Blogger (also known as Mrs P Teach), as the keynote speaker for the morning. Jo was one of the first to talk about whole class reading as an effective replacement for the old model of small group guided reading, something that many Buckinghamshire schools are looking at today.  She first became interested when a colleague noted that children might be making progress ‘despite the teaching of reading, not because of it’. Jo is very generous in sharing her ideas and advice on the subject, after nearly 5 years of teaching reading in this way.

  • Morning session– Keynote speaker Jo Payne
  • Afternoon session– Choice of workshops focusing on teaching strategies for inference, vocabulary, comprehension and more.
